Text Box: RAM LEISURE

WREXHAM AND DISTRICT YOUTH LEAGUE

Summary by Phil Jones

Saturday 21st October 2006

The days top action at the weekend in the RAM Leisure League was in the afternoon where we had the Under 16 League Cup and there were one or two shocks as well.

The best result of the day being minnows Rhosddu Under 15’s who won 4-3 at Brickfield, Dean Matthew, an OG and Keiran Mousdale led them to an historic victory.

Bala were another junior side to do well, their Under 15 outfit beat Brymbo Under 16’s 4-2. Credit also to Ruthin Town Under 15’s who scalped Bala 16’s 2-1 with goals from Ben Jones and Adam Eden.

The senior side at Ruthinn did not do so well though, they flopped 4-0 at Chirk whose marksmen were Matt Cooke, Craig Price, Matt Fleet and James Morris.

Borras Park Albion 16’s booked a safe passage beating Queens Park Youth 4-2 with strikes from Jake France, Neal Pearce, Chris Buxton and Ben Hind.

Ewloe Harriers ran up the highest score of the day to defeat Llay United 15’s. Leading their rampage with a hat-trick apiece were Anthony Bale and Darren Pearce, Carl Thomas, Casey Morrison, Dan Sullivan, Richie Davies, Kelly Fraser, Lee Stewart and Dave Booth also got on the scoresheet.

FC Borras Park Under 16’s made light work of disposing of Coedpoeth United Under 15’s who really were unlucky bowing out 13-0. Amongst the scorers were Oliver Davies(4), Nathan Jones(3), Nicky Davies(2), Sam Parry(2),Michael Jones and Josh Blakeley.

Garden Village U15’s were beaten 4-2 by Chirk Youth 15’s who were on target through Lewis Penrose(2), Chris Pugh and Simon Williams.

Garden Village U16’s go through though, they defeated Ruabon Villa 2000 4-2 with goals from Aled Hughes, James Jones and a double salvo from Danny Parry.

Despite Aaron Thomas being on target for Johnstown Youth it was Maelor Youth whose name goes into the hat for Round 2 courtesy of goals from Will Evans, Phil Huxley and Chris Bryan.

Out go Marchwiel United though, they were beaten 3-2 by Borras Park Albion U15’s. It was an enthralling tie contested by two teams at the top of the under 15's. Borras started brightly and had some good early chances to go in front. It was Marchwiel who struck first blood though through Jack Griffiths following a mistake in the Borras defence, they deservedly went 2-0 up after being awarded a penalty for hand ball and Tom Roden converted the resulting spot-kick. Borras made several tactical changes at the interval and it paid rich dividends. Casey Walker turned on the edge of the area to shoot and slot the ball past the excellent Johnny Whitehand in the home goal to start the fight back. Two minutes later a penalty for hand ball against a Marchwiel defender gave Shaun Jones the chance to convert, which he did in style to make the score 2-2. Then the goal of the game on 61 minutes, Ben Hughes picked up a
ball 20 yards out and unleashed a shot that flew in to the net and it was a goal worthy of wining any match. Borras's goalkeeper, Aaron Poole, made an excellent save in the dying minutes to guarantee Borras are in the hat for the next round.

Marford and Gresford Albion U15’s put up a plucky fight, despite Lee Parry(2) and James Benfield giving them hope, Llay United proved too strong and ran out comfortable winners with strikes from Matt Willis, Jamie Heath who converted a hat-trick, Tom Campbell, Tom Kent and Dan Everson.

Alex Mills did manage a lone consolation goal as Park Youth went out 12-1 by Acrefair Youth U16’s. Leading the visitors goal binge with a treble was Adam Lovett, also on the scoresheet was Josh Russell(2), Steve Armstrong(2), Denis Davies, Gareth William, Levi Evans and Jamie Pugh.

Park Youth U16’s made up for their juniors defeat, they hit Plas Madoc for six, Liam Brightman, Keiran Morris, 2 own goals, Grant Murphy and Grant Murphy were on target with Liam Nicholson hitting back.

Rhos Aelwyd U15’s fell to a heavy defeat against Marford and Gresford Albion Under 16’s whose marksmen were Gavin Jones, Martin Taylor, Ross Morgan, Luke Howells and Owen Williams with a four goal salvo.

In the Under 12 League, section One, the shock of the day was the 4-2 defeat league leaders Brickfield Rangers suffered at Johnstown, Kamil Bancer netted both of the Rangers goals but it was Johnstown on this occasion who took al three points with double strikes from Dean Williams and Josh Millington.

Marchwiel United have gone back top after flooring FC Borras Rangers 4-1, Dominic White bagged a brace with Rob Ward and Ryan Harden completing the romp. Steven Thomas did reduce the arrears.

The Park Youth versus Queens Park Youth game finished goal-less but worthy of mention was Park’s Jack James.

Rhosddu United went down by the odd goal in nine against Mold Juniors who had the games best player in Lee Jones who notched a hat-trick, John Jones(2) made up their nap hand with Rhosddu responding through a Daniel Jones hat-trick and Jake Williams.

Turning to Section Two, there was a touch of class in the Borras Park Rangers victory over Ruthin Town. It was a vintage display and notching the Rangers goals were Zach Degail and one in each half from Tom Duckettt.

Borras Park Albion were narrowly beaten 2-1 by Garden Village, Simon Felgate levelled for the ‘Village People’ with the last action of the first half and he played a big part in the winning goal linking up with Luke Davis to set up Steve Beilby.

Chirk Youth fell to a 10-3 reversal against Bala whose Dale Davies hit a rich vein of form notching five goals with John Evans(4) and a OG accounting for the rest. Hitting back for the hosts were Jack Kynaston, Jake Williams and Benji Wilson.

Coedpoeth United were thin on resource and as such were overpowered 9-2 at Llangollen who had Alun Jones bagging a hat-trick, Danny Weir and Clive Thomas notched two goals apiece with Alex Moore and Joe Morris completing the haul. ‘Coedy were without seven regulars but still managed to peg two goals back through Rhys Edwards.

Rhos Aelwyd beat Maelor Youth 12-2 in another high scoring game, weighing in with a four goal salvo was Scott Reeves. Both Ian Hughes and Danny Harrison converted hat-tricks with Stef Parry completing the rout.

In the Under 13 League Section One, Penycae really are growing from strength to strength but they had to recover from trailing 2-0 at Garden Village who netted two early goals through Sam Parry and Lewis Davies. Lewis Wright, Ryan A Jones and Ben Barlow turned the tables for the visitors to secure a 3-2 success.

Cefn United powered their way past Maelor Youth 8-2 and have Ryan Jackson and Darren Szabo to thank s for their three goal contributions. Kyle Roberts and Ben Jones made up the total.
Adam Williams and Alex Pullen reduced the arrears.

Llangollen shared six goals and the points with Rhosddu United, grabbing the hosts goals were Richard Griffiths, Morgan Thomas and Lewis Jones, Anthony Hope and the impressive Amy Wilsher notched twice to salvage a point for the visitors.

Jason Murphy bagged five goals for Park Youth as they peppered Chirk Youth 9-2. Tom Williams Mark Edwards, Ryan Wrigley-Jones and Jack Hughes completed the romp. Hitting back with a brace of goals was Nick Pearce.

Turning to Section Two, Rhos Aelwyd are building up a terrific head of steam and they won 3-0 at Brymbo Lodge. Rob Salathiel opened
their tally with a solo goal, Josh Griffiths playing against his old club doubled matters and Iolo Francis sealed the win with a simple tap in.

Marford and Gresford Albion whitewashed Corwen in their own back yard, Joe Broderick is making a fist of his first season at The Albion and he notched yet another hat-trick. Ben Price, Mark Lewis, Tom Hughes(2)and man of the match John Roberts(2) completed the debacle.

Bala were whitewashed 7-0 by Borras Park Albion.

Coedpoeth United responded through Kady Seabrook and Tim Hardy but had no answer to goal machine Jordan Cartwright who went to convert a hat-trick to add to a Ben Duffy strike.

In the Under 14 League, in Section One, FC Borras have continued with their unblemished start, they defeated Johnstown 4-0. All the goals came in the 1st half; the scoring was opened by Callum
White who finished off a through ball from midfielder Rob Hooson. Ryan Davies doubled their tally from the edge of the box and the third was a superb lob by James O'Brien. Ryan Davies had put the game beyond reach by the break but full credit to Johnstown, they improved immensely after the break and Emily Brown in defence was like the rock of Gibralter.

Bala prospered 4-1 against Garden Village.

Marford and Gresford Albion played some of their most attractive football of the campaign when defeating Brymbo Lodge 6-1. Be Rogers is hitting a purple patch weighing in with a nap hand of goals prior to Joe Crawford cementing the win. Two players did shine for the visitors and they were Adam Williams and Vaughan Williams prior to James Rogers securing a consolation goal.

Nathan Cooke was also on the rampage again, he fired a further treble to add to his personal tally as Chirk Youth edged their way past hosts Ruthin Town but it was Matt Goddard;s strike in the end that proved decisive. Hitting back for Ruthin were Joe Culshaw(2) and Will Bowman.

In Section Two, the Brickfield Rangers versus Borras Park Albion was cancelled so going top for the first time this season are Llangollen who earned a 4-3 victory at Maelor who replied with a Tom Cusworth hat-trick. The contribution from Max Claridge but particularly James Claybrook who weighed in with a timely hat-trick was what earned Llan the points.

Llay United slammed Rhosddu United 7-0. Man of the match Dylan Jones bagged four goals with Luke Cahill converting a hat-trick.

Park Youth shared a 1-1 draw with Broncoed Tigers, on target was Ryan Brimfield with Chris Thomas equalising.

Ryan Forward was in riveting form also, he bagged five goals for Queens Park as they savaged Coedpoeth United 6-1. Nathan Smith completed the scoring.
