WREXHAM AND DISTRICT YOUTH LEAGUE

Summary by Phil Jones

Saturday 21st October 2006

The days top action was in the Under 13 TESCO CUP and we had several teams crossing the NEWFA border to take part.

Buckley Town last year gained much success at Under 12 level and on this showing where they won 8-0 at Corwen, the scene is set for a good run again. Buckley opened the scoring in the 9th minute, a short corner whipped to the far post for a header, was half saved but stabbed home by Ross Diamond. Aled Reece made it 2-0 with a simple tap in after the Corwen keeper had made a fine save from a shot by Dan Roberts. Reece made it 3-0 in the 20th minute when he scored from the edge of the box and he completed his hat-trick on the stroke of half time with a splendid header. Playing some really attractive football, Reece added a further two goals to his credit and Ross weighed in with a double salvo. Corwen kept going right to the final whistle and made it a good game. Buckley boss Paul Dodd who has made the trip to Corwen many times as a player went to great lengths to ensure credit was given to Corwen for their sportsmanship but in particular their great hospitality.

Ruthin Town have been so invincible and they secured a safe passage by defeating Brickfield 3-1 in their own back yard to signal they mean business. On target were Iolo Hughes and Matt Richards to add to an own goal. Ryan Thomas replied.

Llangollen were ousted by Marford and Gresford Albion who won with ease 9-1. Leading the rout with six goals was new signing Joe Broderick, Youssef Nemmanoui and Mark Lewis. Richard Griffiths netted the lone consolation goal.

The Rhos Aelwyd versus Hawarden Rangers proved to be another hum-dinger with Aelwyd shading matters 4-1. Rob Salathiel bagged two first half goals and then Josh Griffiths and Iolo Francis from the penalty spot cemented the win. Ryan Cunliffe gave Rangers some hope clawing a goal on 50 minutes.

Borras Park Albion had a comfortable passage to oust Chirk Youth by a comfortable margin. The jewel in their crown with six goals was Dale Edwards. Todd Dobie completed a treble, Corey Smart(2) and Matt Kaldowski completed the 12-2 romp.

Rhosddu United were edged out 3-1 by Bala Juniors, Anthony Hope did in fact give them Hope.

Mynydd Isa chalked up a narrow 2-1 win over Maelor Youth with strikes from Tom Bonney and Anthony Callow with Jordan Boyd hitting back.

Marchwiel United accounted for Venture by landslide proportions. Jordan Cartwright was the ‘ace in their pack’, weighing in with a seven goal salvo. Adam Smith, Ben Duffy and Connor Griffiths all bagged hat-tricks, Gareth Evans, Liam Postle, James P Roberts and Jamie Roberts al made significant contributions.

Borras Park Rangers proved too strong for Ewloe Harriers and their 3-0 victory proved to be one of the best results of the day courtesy of goals from Matt Thomas and Jordan Williams plus an own goal.

Coedpoeth United gained revenge over Park Youth who scalped them in the League Cup recently, they progressed with a 3-1 victory. Kady Seabrook scored with a fine solo goal and a very clever chip and Tim Hardie settled their nerves with the last kick of the game.

The vast majority of the Under 12 League Cup Round One games went with form, one of the best results though was the Llangollen 9-5 victory at Coedpoeth and the visitors supporters were ecstatic. Leading the goal glut with a hat-trick was Danny Weir, amongst the remaininh scorers were Alex Moore, Grant Thomas, Josh Scott, Josh Jones, and Pat Davies with keeper Danny Hill saving a penalty at a crucial moment. Making up the hosts nap hand were Rhys Edwards with a four goal salvo and Tom Roberts with a long range effort.

Mold Juniors booked a round 2 passage by defeating Rhosddu United 5-2. Their marksmen were Jack Parry(2), Jack Ainsworth, Lee Jones and man of the match John Jones. Hitting back for Rhosddu were Jack Dacey and Daniel Jones.

Ruthin Town were on the rampage once more and they whitewashed Maelor Youth 14-0. Making up their goal glut were Osian Jones with a four goal salvo, Ciran Jones, Dylan Renney, Harry Owen and Ifan Hafal all notched two goals apiece with Iwan Davies and Nidian Jones completing the spree.

Tom Reid converted a hat-trick and Les Morris(2) made up Acrefair Youths 5-3 success over Chirk Youth who also had a hat-trick hero in Ben Wilson.

John Billington gave Johnstown Youth an early lead against Garden Village who hit back through Steve Beilby to level the tie and with an assist from Adam Denoven Beilby settled the tie but it was James Lee in midfield who was the architect behind the Village success.

Kamil Bancer is in a rich vein of form he grabbed four of the Brickfield Rangers goals as they claimed the scalp of Rhos Aelwyd. Dan Sheriff(2) and Luke Bowen cemented the 7-3 victory with Steff Parry, Ian Hughes and Scott Reeves replying.

There was a hasitily arranged league in the Under 13 League Section One and it involved Llay defeating Garden Village 8-0 to go second. Ryan Fisher was in riveting form scoring five goals, alos on target were Adam Williams(2) and Robbie Humphreys.

There was a full programme of games in the Under 14 League Section One, FC Borras remain the dominant force and kept their 100% record in tact with a 9-3 success at Marchwiel United.

Their closest rivals are Ruthin Town who won 4-2 at Penycae with strikes from Will Mitchelmore, Robbie Cryne, Lewis Isaac and Will Bowman.

Garden Village hit back through Aaron Squire as they were sunk 4-2 by Brymbo Lodge whose marksmen were James Rogers(2), Alan Owens and Gavin Roberts and in Liam Edwards they had the games best player.

Chirk Youth proved too strong for Marford and Gresford Albion, Matt Goddard stood out like a beacon notching a double salvi and playing a key role in the hat-trick converted by Nathan Cooke. Albion’s three goal replay came from Ben Rogers(2) and Joe Crawford and Ryan Williams also shone.

In Section Two, Borras Park Albion continue to rule the roost and remain the only side with a 100% record, they defeated Queens Park 4-1 with efforts from Tom Meyers(2), Tom Wells and Dominic Williams.

Llangollen are occupying a high berth, they had a first class result by defeating Broncoed Tigers 5-3, making up their nap hand were James Claybrook, Kristian Jones, Sam Evans(2) and Jordan Young with Ben Vale, Josh Polydor and Matt Collins having the Tigers all square at the break.

Coedpoeth United had no real answer to the electric pace of Tom Cusworth who scored four of Maelor Youth’s goals in a 5-4 verdict. Ged Griffiths completed their nap hand with Adam Skellon(2), Rhys Hughes and Adam Jones running Coedpoeth close.
Brickfield Rangers went down 4-1 against rampant Llay United whose marksmen were Luke Cahill and Joe Roberts who shared the goals. Llay are interested to hear from any Under 14 year old wanting to play in goal for them.

Ryan Jones replied for Rhosddu United as they were floored 5-1 by Park Youth but the scoreline did flatter the winners somewhat.

In the afternoon programme in the Under 15 League Section One, Marchwiel continue to rule the roost, they hit Ruabon Villa for six, quite literally. On target were Jack Griffiths, Jordan Davies, Ryan Valentine, Chris Dickenson and Tom Roden.

Bala were well beaten 7-3 at home to Chirk Youth whose marksmen were Josh Roberts and a treble apiece for Josh Langford and Lewis Penrose.

Coedpoeth fel to a heavy defeat against Borras Park Albion. Casey Walker weighed in with a five goal salvo, Ben Hughes, Daniel Jones, and Danny Williams all scored a hat-trick apiece with 3 Shaun Jones(2), Liam Jones and Scott Evans completing the romp.

Rhosddu United hit back through Dean Matthews as they were defeated 4-1 by Marford and Gresford Albion who had Lee Parry firing a treble and Ryan Ellingford scoring for the second consecutive week.

Park Youth will be disappointed with their 6-4 reversal against Rhos Aelwyd who took maximum points from this epic thanks to strikes from Josh Roberts, Ashley Wilson, Nathan Evans and a Craig Spencer treble.

Gareth Rogers(2), Sam Taylor(2) and Lewis Roberts combined for Garden Village to just shade their encounter with Rhostyllen Youth who led 3-0 at one stage. The visitors contribution came from Keiran Ansloos, Drew Wickens(2) and John McGrath.

Llay United found Ruthin Town too strong and the visitors cantered to a 6-0 win. Ian Williams netted four of those goals with Alex Gill completing the whitewash.

In the Under 16 League in Section One, Queens Park are top dogs, Ben Edwards got both goals in their 2-1 win at Borras Park Albion who replied through Oliver Rogers.

Josh Russell scored three goals for Acrefair Youth in their 4-2 victory over Ewloe Harriers. Levi Evans added a fourth with Casey Morrison and Carl Thomas hitting back.

Marford and Gresford Albion beat Plas Madoc 5-2, making up their nap hand were Danny Gray(2), Harry Jones, Owen Williams and Nathan Peate. Steve Watling and Leon Nicholson reduced the deficit.

Park Youth will be delighted to have picked up maximum points from their encounter with Ruthin Town which they won 4-2 after Jack Andrews, Andy Nightingale and Grant Owen(2). Netting the Ruthin response was Ross Jones and Dany Maclean.

Turning to Section Two, the Bala versus Brymbo and Chirk Youth against Johnstown games were both postponed.

Maelor Youth have gone joint top after narrowly defeating FC Borras Park 2-1 with goals from Will Ellis and Chris Ryan. Olly Davies hit back.
