Text Box: RAM LEISURE
WREXHAM AND DISTRICT YOUTH LEAGUE
Summary by Phil Jones

Saturday 7th October 2006

Borras Park Albion who as a club have been so dominant in the cup arena over the years will be hugely disappointed to have taken an early exit in the North East Wales Challenge Cup competition going down 4-3 against Acrefair who shaded this epic with strikes from Tom May, Josh Evans, Jack Arthur from the penalty spot plus an own goal. In tip top form for the winners was Kyle Reeves, the stand in keeper. Albion’s response came from Lloyd Bagnall(2) and Lucas Williams.

Out go Chirk Youth, they were beaten 15-2 by Garden Village who whose goal bonanza was created courtesy of Ithan Turtan who weighed in with a six goal salvo, Hari Gould with a treble, Gaz Derosa and Ben Williams, Luke Davies(2) and Owen Griffiths(2). Ben Wilson and George French hit back.

CPI Bala found Mold Juniors too strong and they shaded the tie 3-2 with strikes from Jack Parry(2) and Lee Jones with Luke Thomas winning the man of the match award.

Johnstown Youth accounted for Buckley Town, 5-3, on target were Dean Williams(2), Josh Bilington(2) and Matt Jones.

Llangollen Youth lost their keeper at half time so they failed to contain rampant Brickfield who edged through 4-1 thanks to efforts from Dan Sheriff(2), Luke Bowen and Kamil Dancer. Alan O Jones replied.

Queens Park ended any hopes Maelor Youth had of progressing by completing a landslide 16-1 victory. Leading their charge with six goals was Tyrone Hopson, Keiran Jones added a treble, amongst the remaining scorers were Keegan Jackolevs, Kye Jones(2), Ryan Jones, Aeron Phoenix, Harry Jones, Casey Roberts.

There was a nine goal thriller at Rhos Aelwyd who were eventually beaten 5-4 by Brymbo Lodge who were on target through Matt Wall(2), Matt Turner(2) and Harry Jones. Hitting back with two goals apiece were Dan Harrison and Steff Parry.

Turning to the Under 13 League, in Section One, Penycae have gone clear at the top after walloping village rivals Cefn United 9-1. Leading the romp were Ryan A and Ryan M Jones grabbing a treble and a double salvo respectively. Adding to their tally were Callum Edge(2), Josh Austin and Ben Barton. Netting a lone consolation goal was Daz Szabo.

Maelor Youth flopped 3-1 at home to Park Youth whose marksmen were Jason Murphy with a well flighted freekick, Mark Hughes and Liam Fisher with Josh Tweedwick hitting back.

Rhosddu United are enjoying a nice spell of form and they trounced Chirk Youth 7-3 with goals from Adam Owen, Ben Allen, Nathan Hosie, Ryan Slawson and Tom Hallom with a hat-trick. Chirk’s response came from Owen Mazerella, Mark Valentine and Will Thomas.

Llangollen consolidated a second place berth with a convincing 11-0 whitewash of Venture. Top gun was Louis Jones with a six goal salvo, Dyfan Hughes(2), Rhys Hughes, Richard Griffiths and James Denon completed the debacle.

Turning our attention to Section Two, Borras continue to rule the roost and they defeated Brickfield Rangers 4-2 who hit back with a brace of goals from Ashley Salisbury.

Corwen Youth shared two goals and the points with Coedpoeth, the hosts led through Tom Williams whose shot took a deflection and there was a second half reply to salvage a point through Mike Pugh with a ‘net-ripper’.

Marchwiel United picked up only their second win in five starts to send Brymbo Lodge crashing 6-1, their marksmen were Jordan Cartwright with yet another hat-trick, Ben Duffy(2) and James Philip Roberts.

In the match of the day clash at Clappers Lane, a solitary goal from Iolo Hughes gave Ruthin Town a narrow 1-0 win over Marford and Gresford Albion.

Rhos Aelwyd have now gone top following their 6-0 triumph over Bala. They opened their account through Taylor Jasper who ended an eleven man move with a close range tap in. Iolo Francis fired a fine solo affair, sub Rob Salathiel, new kid on the block Josh Griffiths and Dean Williams completed the rout.

At Under 14 level in League Section One, the score line is not what it seems, Bala put up a good show against FC Borras who without big centre-back Jordan Roberts and keeper David Osborne the scores would have been much closer. James O'Brien opened the scoring after good work by Liam Humphreys. Rob Hooson weighed in with a double salvo with Lucas Godfrey notching his first goal of the season to give the visitors a four goal half time cushion. Bala did pull a goal back through Alun Parry but and skipper Liam Humphreys and substitute Callum White sealed the win.

Second placed Ruthin Town were held to a 2-2 draw by Marchwiel. Will Bowman and Robbie Cryne bagged the hosts goals with Marchwiel securing a valuable point through a response from Michael Allen and Andy Hughes.

Chirk Youth were in scintillating form at Garden Village, particularly Nathan Cooke who bagged five goals and had a hand in most of the other goals swept in by Matt Goddard(2) and Tom Jones in their 8-0 romp.

Marford and Gresford Albion defeated ten men Penycae Youth 2-0 who had their keeper dismissed by referee Ian Jarvis making some disparaging remarks. Albion notched a goal in each half through man of the match Ben Rogers and Will Thomas

In Section Two, Coedpoeth defied the odds to clinch their first win in six starts against Broncoed Tigers and the win was worth savouring. Josh Polydor netted the Tigers consolation goal with Coedpoeth hitting the hosts for six with thanks to Dan Bennion who was man of the match scoring a hat-trick, completing the rampage were Andy Skellon and Andy Jones.

Llangollen trounced Rhosddu United 11-3. Leading the haul with a hat-trick apiece were James Claybrook and Kristian Jones. Fullback Stef Edwards opened the spree with Max Claridge(2) and sub Sam Evans adding to their tally. Accounting for Rhosddu’s response was Steve Elliott, Luke Harrington and Ryan Jones

Michael Hencher was in ‘tip-top’ form for Borras Park securing a hat-trick in his sides 6-2 at Llay. Sean Price, Thomas Wells and Joe Edwards cemented the win. Dylan Jones and Luke Cahill replied.

Maelor Youth were on the wrong end of an 8-0 drubbing against Queens Park who were on target through Zac Bailey who fired a four goal salvo, Nathan Smith and Ryan Forward smashed a hat-trick.

Park Youth proved too hot for Brickfield Rangers and their leading their rout was the days highest scorer Ryan Brimfield with a seven goal haul. Jake Hopley netted four further goals also on the scoresheet with a hat-trick was Matt Manual and Andy Oliver. Lewis Jones did manage a solitary consolation goal for Brickfield.

The match of the day in the Under 15 section was at Memorial Fields, was between Ruthin Town and Borras Park and it was a pulsating game that was a credit to the Youth League with both teams looking to maintain their hundred percent record. Borras opened their account from the penalty spot which was converted by Daniel Jones after he had been earlier felled. As half time loomed, Ruthin hit back when a deflected clearance fell to striker Ben Jones who levelled with a looping shot. Following a hand ball incident Dion Jones put Ruthin ahead but in a late sortie, Chad Thomas sent over a corner and Liam Williams scored a deserved equaliser

Llay United were floored 9-4 in their own back yard by Bala Juniors. Reducing the deficit for Llay were Alan Hume(2), Mike Herald and Andy Jones.

Marford and Gresford Albion were back on the winning trail to sink Coedpoeth United 12-1. Grant Hughes notched four of those goals with David Lloyd notching twice. Lee Parry clinched a hat-trick with Connor Speed, Daniel McDonald and Dan Lloyd sealing the win. Stuart Roberts managed to grab a consolation goal for Coedpoeth.

Tom Proburn notched both of the Park Youth goals as they flopped 4-2 at home to Chirk Youth whose marksmen were Josh Langford(2), Lewis Penrhos and Josh Roberts.

Rhos Aelwyd held Rhostyllen Youth to a 1-1 draw who replied through John McGrath.

Rhosddu United were down on luck once more and they were beaten 5-2 by Ruabon Villa 2000 who went nap through Dafydd Roe, Josh Blackwell, Matt Bride(2) and Ryan Williams.

At Under 16 League level in Section One, just one game survived and it involved and Queens Park picked up an important 2-0 verdict at Ruthin Town with goals from Nathan Buckley and Daniel Jones.

In Section Two, FC Borras were keen to put two defeats out their mind with the visit of Brickfield, Malcolm Wareham steered them in front from a Sam Parry corner and then after being provider, Parry netted from close range. Josh Blakeley extended the Borras lead even further with a fine finish after an explosive run. Brickfield improved in the second half, but a good finish from Michael Jones made it 4-0. Parry doubled his personal tally and Malcolm Wareham went on to complete his hat-trick with an excellent low drive from 18 yards to make the final score 6-2 to Borras all after Jason Ratcliffe had pegged two goals back.

Llay United carved out a thrilling 4-2 win over Brymbo with goals from Nathan Jones, James Heath, Tom Campbell and Daniel Ferry. Gary Dumore and Darryl Lodwick reduced the margin.

Maelor Youth failed to contain in form Chirk Youth who in Phil Pierce had the games best player. Separating the sides were Matt Cooke from the penalty spot and Mark Williams.
