WREXHAM AND DISTRICT YOUTH LEAGUE

Saturday 31st March 2007

Summary by Phil Jones

Mold Juniors got their title push back on track with a riveting 5-0 victory over Johnstown who are no easy pushovers. Lee Jones bagged a treble with Adam Roberts and Jack Perry making up their nap hand in an all round fine team display.

Marford and Gresford Albion were sunk 4-1 in their own back yard by Marchwiel United who had Jack Edwards and Dominic White weighing in with two goals apiece after James Griffiths got one of the games best goals for the hosts.

Park Youth slammed Brymbo Lodge 8-1, Tyrone Hopson weighed in with a four goal salvo, John Paul Weston(2), Keiran Jones and Andy Barrett completed their tally.

Rhosddu United shared six goals and the points with Acrefair Youth and getting the hosts goals were Jake Williams, Dan Jones and Callum Perry.

In section two, title favourites Borras Park Rangers cruised to a 9-1 success over Maelor Youth. Jordan Williams fired a hat-trick, Zac Forber, Zac Degale, Theo Pumford, Curtis Neary, George Ford and James Roberts completed their spree.

Llangollen flopped to a 5-0 reversal against Bala Juniors.

Marchwiel Colts suffered an 8-1 defeat at Rhos Aelwyd but what a credit they are to the youth league. Sam Baldwin, Paul Williams, Dan Harrison(2), Ian Hughes(2) and Liam Jones(2) got the winners goals.

Ruthin Town secured a convincing 11-2 verdict over FC Brickfield. Top guns with a hat-trick apiece were Stephen Willsdon and Ciran Jones. Ifan Hafal(2), Emyr Gwynydd, Iwan Davies and Tirion Roberts completed the debacle.

Turning to the Under 13 League, Section One leaders Penycae came unstuck and went down 3-2 at home to Park Youth. Ryan M Jones and Callum Edge hit back after Liam Fisher(2) and Jason Murphy edged the points Park’s way.

Cefn United were out-shaded 2-1 Garden Village. Andy Butteron notched the hosts goals with Jake McDermott and Tom Seward making the points safe for the Village.

Rhosddu United were just pipped 2-1 by Maelor Youth whose marksmen were James Morrison and Adam Wiliams who fired a late winner after Adam Owen had been on target for the hosts.

In Section Two, Rhos Aelwyd now know just one more point will seal the title after clinching a 3-1 victory at Brickfield. Josh Griffiths netted from the tightest of angles, Rob Salathiel weighed in with a further stunning goal and Ryan Jenkins completed the spree with Ashley Salisbury reducing the arrears.

Bala Juniors had no answer to the much talked about Jordan Cartwright who has been linked with Manchester United this week. He weighed on with a four goal salvo as his side picked up maximum points in a 6-3 romp at Bala. Ben Duffy also helped himself to a brace of goals.

Laurence Vivian Cope and a Kady Seabrook double allowed Coedpoeth United to sink Brymbo Lodge 3-0.

Corwen Youth reversed their game with Ruthin Town but even with home advantage they had no answer to swashbuckling Ruthin who triumphed with ease with strikes from Iolo Hughes who bagged a treble, Matthew Richards(2), Danny Lloyd, David Hurst and Josh Davies.

At Under 14 League level in Section One, Chirk AAA’s have now gone top as a result of their 4-1 win at Johnstown. Tom Jones struck twice with Mark Jones and Kyle Fry cementing the win.

Turning to Section Two, Queens Park were held to a goal-less draw against Park Youth who drew their first game of the campaign.

Broncoed Tigers by their own high standards have had a disappointing campaign and again thin on resource they were toppled 6-2 by Brickfield Rangers who had the games best player in Liam Sklenar who bagged four goals. Lewis Jones and Ryan Jones completed the haul with Mark Purdie and Danny Bolland reducing the arrears.

Dylan Jones got a lone consolation goal for Llay United who were battered 9-1 by Llangollen.

In the Under 15 League, the Garden Village versus Marchwiel United game had to be cancelled but Marford and Gresford Albion rose to the occasion to defeat Bala Juniors 10-6. Danny McDonald was their jewel in the crown weighing in with a four goal salvo. Grant Hughes converted a hat-trick with Connor Speed(2) and Rob Morris sealing the win. It is not often though that you score six goals away from home and still finish on the losing side but that is what happened to Bala with Gwilym Ifan notching four goals and Rhys Evans and Brenig Gwilym hitting back.

Also making double figures were Rhos Aelwyd who whitewashed Coedpoeth United 10-0. Mike Rowlands turned out to be the days top scorer firing a five goal salvo. Completing the debacle were Nathan Evans with a treble and Josh Roberts(2).

Ruthin Town narrowly defeated Ruabon Villa 3-2 with strikes from Jack Higgins(2) and Ian Williams.

In the Under 16 League in Section One, champions elect Acrefair beat Marford and Gresford Albion 3-2 with goals from Josh Foulkes(2) and Joe Price. Keeping Albion in touch were Owen Williams and Danny Gray.

Plas Madoc had their league game with Ruthin Town put on hold so they could contest their outstanding Kevin Wright cup game with Rhostyllen which they just shaded 7-5 after extra time. Nabbing the Plas Madoc magnificent seven were Josh Williams(2), Liam Nicholls with a hat-trick and JP O’Brien. Netting for Rhostyllen were Keiran Ansloos(2), Tibor Bloc, Liam Mkonde, and Drew Wickens.

In Section Two, Brickfield Rangers fell to a 3-1 reversal against Bala Juniors, Dan Turner hit back.

James Rogers fired a consolation goal for Johnstown in their 3-1 defeat at home to Brymbo.

Maelor Youth slipped up 3-0 at home to Garden Village whose marksmen were Johnny Evans, Daniel Parry and Matt Cliffe who scored with a stunning freekick from his own half.
