Saturday 17th March 2007

Summary by Phil Jones

In the match of the day in the Under 12 league, we had leaders Mold Juniors facing hosts Marchwiel United who knew the importance of collecting maximum points to keep their title dreams alive but they had to be content with sharing four goals and the points. They had also carved out a 2-0 lead with efforts from Ryan Harding and Dominic White, Mold hit back on the stroke of half time and full time to snatch a point through Anthony Jones and John Jones.

Acrefair Youth went nap to defeat Marford and Gresford Albion 5-3, Tom May converted a hat-trick with Josh Evans weighed in with a double salvo. Rersponding for Albion was James Griffiths(2) and Mathew McCarthy.

Johnstown Youth failed to contain a rampant Park Youth who won this encounter with ease 5-0. Ace predator led their success with a brace of gals and Tyron Hopson, Hayden Jones and Trefor Jones completed the spree.

Chirk Youth were turned over 4-1 by FC Brickfield with Aaron Dymond and Luke Roberts weighing in with two goals apiece reducing the arrears was Ben Wilson.

Coedpoeth United were beaten by league leaders Ruthin Town 4-0.

Garden Village played some of their best football in ages to sink Rhos Aelwyd 6-1 all after Rhos took an early lead through Daniel Harrison. The Aelwyd scourge was Sam Felgate who was inspirational in midfield for the hosts setting up several of his sides goals converted by Luke Davies who scored with a deft header, a beauty from Ben Williams, Adam Denoven, Luke Jones and a well crafted brace from Ethan Turton.

Back on the league scene at Under 14 level in Section One, FC Borras Park started strongly against a very useful Marchwiel side and took an early two goal lead through winger Mason Matthews who scored twice in the first 15 minutes. A good finish by Callum White extended their lead with two good goals from Evan Morgan making up teir nap hand. The second half saw all of Borras subs being used but soon after through injury the 10 men and found it hard to increase their lead. In fact only through some good saves from keeper David Osborne, who prevented Marchwiel strikers from getting back into the game.

Marford and Gresford Albion boss Brian Cunnah has a job to split to quality keeper at the moment so Nick Gillam and Paulo Bravin played a half each and both shone but Marford’s best payer was again Jack Cunnah despite Chirk Youth winning this clash 2-0 with efforts from Kyle Jones and Nathan Cooke.

In Section Two, Borras Park Albion became the first side this term to be declared champions following their 6-2 victory over Queens Park. The jewel in their crown was Michael Hencher who converted a hat-trick and completing the spree were Steven Jones, Tom Wells and Ryan Jones.

Maelor Youth shared four goals and the points with Coedpoeth who trailed 2-0 but a double blast from Adam Skellon ensured a successful comeback after Lewis Williams and Alex Thompson-Paynter had put Maelor into an early command. Providing the Park’s two goal response was Nathan Smith.
