WREXHAM AND DISTRICT YOUTH LEAGUE

Saturday 24th February 2007

Summary by Phil Jones

Marchwiel United in the Under 12 League Section One have moved to within two points of Mold Juniors who were without a game after they floored Brymbo Lodge 4-1. Jack Edwards, Dominic White with a brace of goals and Rob Ward from the penalty spot cemented the win.

Dean Williams is proving to be real inspiration for Johnstown Youth this season and a courageous performance yet again was rewarded with a hat-trick on his sides 4-1 win over FC Borras Rangers, making up their tally was Bradley Hughes. Jamie Pritchard reduced the arrears.

Brickfield Rangers remain actively involved in the title race with a convincing 7-0 haul at Acrefair. They clearly raised their game as did the following scorers, Ryan Hughes who netted a hat-trick, Kamil Bancer and Dan Sherriff secured double salvo’s

Marford and Gresford Albion just nicked a narrow 3-2 verdict over Park Youth, netting for the hosts were James Griffiths, Matt McCarthy and Dan Johnson with Tyrone Hopson and John Paul Lewis replying.

In Section Two, Borras Park Albion were given a rude awakening against a gutsy Garden Village who grabbed the best result of the day by notching a 4-0 success against an Albion side who were sitting in second spot in the table. Steve Beilby broke the deadlock with the last action of the first half, Tom Price netted from close range and Albion were reeling when Luke Davies was tripped and Adam Denoven converted from the penalty spot. Davies then cemented the win with a 4th goal late on.

Bala Juniors trounced Chirk Youth 7-2 with goals from Tom Roberts, John Evans(3), Maban Jones and Dale Davies. Hitting back for Llan were Scott Pemberton and Ben Wilson.

Llangollen flopped 6-0 against Coedpoeth who had a fine hat-trick hero in Morgan Williams. Rhys Edwards struck twice with Tom Roberts sealing the win.

Maelor Youth were slammed 10-2 by Rhos Aelwyd who had one of their best results of the season. Ian Hughes bagged four of those goals, Stefan Parry converted a hat-trick which included a 25 yard scorcher and Jake Jones(2) and Scott Reeves completed the rout. Standing out for Rhos were Reeves and Chris Wood. Hitting back for Maelor were Eddie Robinson and James Beddow.

Aaron Diamond is a real ‘diamond geezer’ by trade as well as name. He fired ten goals for FC Brickfield in their 14-3 romp against Marchwiel Colts. Phil Bukley(2), Luke Robertson and Gavin Eccleston completed the debacle.

In a delayed Under 12 NEWFA Cup game, Ruthin Town progressed 7-1 at Rhossdu and on target were Kiran Jones with a brace, Oliver Bradley- Hughes, Tirion Roberts, Osian Davies and two goals from Ifan Hafal which included an early penalty. Jack Dacey replied for the hosts also from the penalty spot.

In the Under 13 League Section One, Llay United kept their championship dreams alive by narrowly defeating Rhosddu United 3-2 with Ryan Fisher netting all three goals. Tom Hallom and Ben Allen got Rhosddu to within distance.

Lewis Jones was the jewel in the Llangollen crown bagging four goals as his side triumphed 7-2 against Chirk Youth but the hosts were first to admit that the score-line did flatter them somewhat. Making up the spree were Kevin Jones(2) and Nathan Holland.

Jason Murphy was once more man of the match for Park Youth striking six times as his side whitewashed Cefn United 10-0. Completing the debacle were Tom Williams, Alex Griffiths and Jack Hughes.

Garden Village battered Maelor Youth 8-1 and Jordan Clayton led the romp with a treble and adding to their tally were Harry Powell, Sam Parry(2), Tom Seyward and Joe Harper. Jordan Boyd netted a consolation goal for the visitors.

Turning to Section Two, Marford and Gresford Albion go equal second but they made real hard work of their 2-1 slim victory over strugglers Corwen and it was an injury time winner from Dan Griffin which earned Albion maximum points after Richard Jones had given them a half time lead. Yassef Quaeuf replied for the visitors.

Brickfield Rangers put up a fine fight but were just out-shaded 2-1 by Ruthin Town. Ashley Salisbury netted the hosts goal with Dave Finnie and Iolo Hughes making the points safe for Ruthin.

Marchwiel United chalked up one of their best results of their season so far and they demolished Coedpoeth United 9-3. Responding for the visitors were Kady Seabrook(2) and Ryan Lovatt who netted his first ever goal for the club. Jordan Cartwright fired a six goal salvo for United with Ben Duffy(2) and James Roberts making the points safe.

Turning to the Under 14 League in Section One, the days biggest shock was at Moreton Playing Fields where Johnstown Youth defeated league leaders FC Borras Park 3-2. An immaculate defensive display from Emily Brown proved to be the real platform for Johnstown’s success and carving out their goals were Jack Griffiths(2) and Sol Dobie. Mike Bagnall notched the two goal response.

Brymbo Lodge will be kicking themselves for letting the game slip away from them against Marford and Gresford Albion who just about won this encounter 4-3. Ben Rogers converted a treble and Adam Nolan was also on target for the winners. For the hosts, Ben Jones, Liam Edwards and James Edwards had their side in the hunt right till the death.

Chirk Youth’s 5-3 win over Ruthin Town proved to be even more important as the title now becomes within their grasp. Making up their nap hand following an exceptional display was Matt Goddard who netted all five of the Chirk goals. Responding for Ruthin were Robbie Cryne, Tom Morgan and Lewis Isaac.

Tom Birkkhead hit back for Garden Village as they were battered 9-1 by Bala Juniors.

In Section Two, Queens Park defeated gallant Broncoed Tigers 9-2 but Tigers only turned up with nine players. Top scorer with four goals was Nathan Smith, Liam Pugh, Rhys Foulkes, Zac Bailey and Sam Jones were Park’s marksmen with Danny Bolland hitting back with a double salvo for the visitors.

Coedpoeth United just shaded their encounter with Llangollen 6-5. Man of the match Adam Jones was rewarded with a three goal haul, Danny Bennion, Jak Roberts and Ellis Phillips made up the spree.

Park Youth were on the wrong end of a 9-0 drubbing against Borras Park Albion who had the following three players all weighing in with trebles, Tom Meyers, Tom Wells and Steve Jones.

Ace predator Lewis Williams stood out like a beacon once more notching three of his side Maelor Youth’s goals as they went nap to defeat Llay United 5-1. Adding to their account were George Griffiths and Mark Mottershead. Responding for Llay was John Lewis.

Rhosddu United reversed their fixture to Brickfield Rangers who had Liam Sklenar and Ryan Powell helping them on to a 2-0 victory.

Goals were plentiful in the afternoon programme and at Under 15 level but league leaders Marchwiel United were given quite a scare when they struggled to take points off Ruabon Villa who were much the better side for much of this encounter before eventually going down 4-3. On target for Villa were Ashley Hind, Ryan Williams and Matt Bride and the winners who were first to concede the better side lost hit back through Jack Griffiths, Kris Dickenson, Ryan Valentine and Tom Roden.

Chirk Youth peppered Bala Juniors 11-1, leading the way with a treble was Josh Langford and also on the scoresheet were Chris Pugh, Lewis Penrose, Andy Morris, Tom Williams, Steve Stone and Keiran Williams.

Marford and Gresford Albion chalked up a 3-0 verdict over Rhosddu United with strikes from Grant Hughes, Danny Lloyd and Dan McDonald. The visitors could only raise 9 players who gave their all.

Rhostyllen Youth showed up well again and they defeated Garden Village who had the better start. A double from Keiran Ansloos with Tibor Bloc the provider gave the hosts the advantage but Mike Wright hit back to make a scrap of things but Liandish Nkonde made the point secure late on.

Jack Higgins became the days highest scorer notching eleven goals for Ruthin Town in their 23-0 win against Llay United. Ian Williams bagged a double hat-trick with Dyfan Jones(2), Alex Gill(2), Dion Jones and Ben Walker all on the scoresheet.

In the Under 16 League in Section One, Park Youth suffered a narrow 2-1 home defeat against Ewloe Harriers. Liam Bateman bagged the hosts goal with Carl Thomas and Dan Sullivan making the points safe for the Harriers.

Acrefair Youth beat neighbours Plas Madoc 5-0 and making up their nap hand were Sean Davies(2), Nicky Jones, Steve Armstrong and Joe Price.
In Section Two, Chirk Youth whitewashed Johnstown Youth 8-0. Matt Cooke led the way with a four goal salvo, Nathan Edwards, Craig Price and Lee Griffiths completed the spree.

The Llay United versus Brickfield Rangers game was abandoned at half time when a player was badly injured.
