WREXHAM AND DISTRICT YOUTH LEAGUE

Summary by Phil Jones

Saturday 2nd December 2006

The top action last weekend was in the UNDER 14 League Cup which was at its Round Two stage with a place in the last 16 at stake.

The match of the day clash between Ruthin Town and Rhos Aelwyd lived up to its top billing and needed extra time to split them. Dave Finney provided Ruthin with the lead but Taylor Jasper cancelled the goal out with the last action of the first half. Ryan Jenkins conjured up an extra time winner for Rhos but they did have the games best two players in keeper Danny Gibbon and the ever alert Iolo Francis who just shaded the man of the match award.

Bala Juniors U14’s trounced the junior boys of Corwen Youth U13’2 8-0 and their younger side Bala Under 13’s are also through, they beat Park Youth 4-3.

Borras Park Albion Under 13’s were dumped out of the competition by Chirk Youth who had Matt Cooke and Matt Goddard serving up a 5-1 success with Cooke notching a treble and Goddard weighing in with a double salvo. Matthew Kaldowski netted the Albion consolation goal.

Brickfield Rangers were edged out 5-3 by Park Youth who went nap through Ryan Brimfield(2) and Jake Hopley(2) and an own goal. Liam Sklener(2) and Ryan Powell with his first ever goal for the club reduced the arrears.

Liam Edwards bagged four goals for Brymbo Lodge as they defeated Llay United 7-3. Ben Jones, James Rogers and Luke Keefe completed the haul with Adam Williams, Luke Bagnall and Ryan Fisher hitting back.

Rhys Hughes was back to his brilliant best, he got four of his sides goals as Coedpoeth United ended Marchwiel United’s progress, Danny Bennion made up their nap hand with the visitors replying via a Jordan Cartwright penalty.

FC Borras Park U14’s crushed Brymbo Lodge 15-0. Rob Hoosan and Nick Schleising both notched trebles each, Ben White and Liam Humphreys weighed in with double salvo’s with Jordan Roberts, Mike Bagnall, Lucas Godfrey, Callum White and Oliver Post also on the scoresheet.

The Llangollen U14 clash against Penycae Youth game proved to be a real epic with Llangollen just nicking things 8-5 after extra time with the game ending at 4-4 at full time. Poor Callum Edge notched a hat-trick away from home but still finished on the losing side, Ryan M Jones with a scorcher and Ryan A Jones added to their tally but Llan marginally shaded the tie and were a little fortunate to go through but Kristian Jones with four goals, Sam Evans(2), James Claybrook and Dan Richards sealed the win.

Queens Park were amongst the days highest scorers and they demolished Llay United 15-2. Ryan Jones notched four goals, Ryan Forward(2), Sam Jones(2), Liam Pugh, am OG, Bobby Christopher(2), Nathan Smith with a treble accounted for the rest. Replying for the gallant losers were Connel Jeffreys and Joel Roberts.

The Cusworth and Williams combination were at it again for Maelor, they netted seven goals between them with Cusworth firing a four goal salvo. Tom Healey(2), Alex Thompson-Paynter and George Griffiths completed their eleven goal haul. Responding for their opponents Llangollen was Lewis Jones.

Penycae Youth were ousted 3-1 by Ruthin Town who struck through Jac Williams(2) and Shaun Jones.

Rhosddu United failed to contain the older boys from Marford and Gresford Albion U14’s who booked a Round 3 berth courtesy of strikes from Joe Crawford, Ravi Champaneria(2) and Steve Ashburn to win 5-1. Hitting back was Lewis Jones.

Rhosddu United’s Under 14’s also took a Round 2 exit and they flopped 4-2 against Brickfield Rangers Under 13’s who trailed at one stage but hit back to go through 4-2 with strikes from Tom Lloyd(2), Tom Williams and Ashley Salisbury.

In the Under 12 League Section One, right against the odds, a plucky Marford and Gresford Albion held league leaders Mold Juniors to a 2-2 draw at The Gravel Pit, the hosts had Connor Griffiths and Matt McCarthy cancelling out efforts from Lee Jones and Storey Baker.

Acrefair Youth shared four goals and the points with FC Borras Park Rangers who hit back through Steven Thomas(2).

Brickfield Rangers defeated Brymbo Lodge 3-0 and on target were Dan Sheriff(2) and Kamil Bancer.

Dominic White fired a treble as Marchwiel United had a fisrt class 6-2 success at Johnstown, Ryan Clutton(2) and Jack Edwards completed the spree with Josh Millington and Kieran Taylor replying.

Queens Park had an odd goal in five win over Rhosddu who hit back through Callum Parry and Dylan Hughes. The winners tally was created by Tyrone Hopson(2) and Kian Jones.

In Section Two, Borras Park Rangers continue to rule the roost and they whitewashed Marchwiel Colts 15-0. Zach Degale was top gun with four goals, James Roberts converted a hat-trick with Zach Gorber, George Ford(2), Matt Thomas, Tom Duckett, James Duckett, Lewis Harrington and an own goal accounted for the rest.

The Coedpoeth versus Bala game was called off due to a shortage of Bala players.

Garden Village trailed 1-0 against Chirk Youth when Ben Wilson opened their account with an excellent strike from distance but Adam Denevon with a firm header from a corner, Luke Davis and Ben Williams went on to seal the 3-1 win.

Danny Weir, Alan Jones and Clive Thomas hit back for Llangollen to beat Borras Park Albion who took an early lead.

Maelor Youth flopped rather badly and fell to a heavy 15-0 defeat. On the score-sheet for Ruthin Town were Morgan Owen, Ithan Hafal, Osian Davies, Hari Owen(3), Iwan Davies, Nidion Jones, Cirion Jones and Tirion Roberts with a four goal salvo.

Rhos Aelwyd notched up their sixth win of the campaign to defeat FC Brickfield 6-3. Steffan Parry and Ian Hughes both weighed in with double salvo’s with Dan Harrison and Jack Jones completing the spree.

The Under 15 League leaders Marchwiel United go marching on, they defeated Bala Juniors 4-2 to cling onto top spot, Jac Griffiths, Daniel Tudor Owen and Phil Tinsley combined to plot the downfall of the visitors.

Marford and Gresford Albion raised their game to hold high flying Ruthin Town to a goal-less draw.

Park Youth were conquered by Borras Park Albion who won this encounter 3-1 with strikes from Daniel Jones, Mike Damon and Nathan Williams with Park hitting back through Gareth Johnson.

Nathan Evans(2) and Michael Rowlands had Rhos Aelwyd in with a shout against Garden Village who took all three points on offer when Gareth Rogers, Luke Bednarek, Mike Wright, Sam Taylor and Lewis Roberts netted a five goal response for The Village.

Rhosddu failed to hold Llay United who shaded this game 4-2. Josh Hardy(2), Alan Hume and Mike Herald notched the Llay goals with Keiran Mousdale(2) getting the hosts goals.

The Rhostyllen versus Coedpoeth game proved to be quite a classic and there were goals a galore. Back on the local scene with a vengeance for Coedpoeth and on his old stomping ground was the impish Mark Burrows but his brace against his former colleagues was not quite enough even when added to a Luke Parry goal which had them 3-2 up at one stage. There was a fine turnaround of fortunes for the hosts who just edged this encounter 5-3 with Keiran Ansloos(2), John McGrath, Adnam Nasri and Liandisha Mknondee making up their nap hand.

Ruabon Villa 2000 were floored 16-2 by Chirk Youth who had the days top scorer in Keiran Williams who weighed in with a seven goal salvo. Josh Roberts Jnr and Josh Roberts Snr were also on the scoresheet as were Simon Williams and Jamie Clarke.

The Under 16 League Section One leaders Queens Park maintained their unbeaten run of eight games, they defeated Ruthin Town 4-2. Brad Richardson(2), Levi Roberts and Nathan Buckley ensured their fine start to the campaign remained unblemished despite Simon Cartwright twice hitting back.

Borras Park Albion thrashed Park Youth 6-1 with efforts from Ben Hines(2), Chris Buxton, Neal Pearce, Oliver Rogers and Jonathon Williams.

Ewloe Harriers whitewashed Plas Madoc 9-0 with strikes from Andy Chapman, Casey Morrison, Lewis Cunlife(2), Karl Thomas, Dan Sullivan, John Lewis and Lee Stewart making the points safe.

Turning to Section Two, overnight leaders Chirk were well and truly ambushed at Garden Village and they fell to their first defeat of the campaign with a Chris Davis strike proving decisive.

A brace of goals from Tom Kent has fired Llay Welfare into top spot as they beat Maelor 2-0.

Brymbo were beaten 5-3 in their own back yard by Brickfield Rangers whose marksmen were Jason Ratcliffe with a treble, Lee Tudor and Damian Samuels with the hosts hitting back via Jamie Davenport(2) and Gary Dugmore.

The Bala versus FC Borras Park game fell victim to the weather.
