Girls football

Girls Football in this area was encouraged by Carl Darlington( Wrexham FDO) and Graham Roberts (NEWFA member and Mold JFC Chairman). Teams played in the North Wales Girls Football League up to the end of season 2006/7

Season 2007/8 operated with U11 and U13 Age Groups,19 teams in total.

NEWFA approached the Youth League asking us to form a Girls Section which was agreed and was put into place for the start of the 2007/8 season. The reason for this was that FAW wanted teams to play in their own Association area.

Brian Johnson is the main contact for Girls Football but registrations and fixtures are dealt with by the relevant Secretaries and the Committee gives full support.

In the Speedy Hire Ltd Under 11 Shield, Llay Utd met Mold JFC Girls and after a hard fought game, Mold won 1 – 0.

In the Under 13’s Knockout Competition final Mold JFC Girls came up against a very determined and hard battling Marford/Gresford side. After a scrambled goal, Marford/Gresford defended in numbers and kept out Mold’s attempts to get an equaliser. A 1 – 0 victory was the outcome after an entertaining afternoon, in constant rain, at Colliers Park, Gresford.

For season 2008/9, Girls Football is once again popular in the NEWFA area and the League will be running several Age Groups.
