WREXHAM AND DISTRICT YOUTH LEAGUE

Saturday 4th October 2008

Summary by Phil Jones

The key action last weekend was in the Under 12 NEWFA Challenge Cup and most games went with form.

Rhosddu United showed up really well to sink Ewloe Harriers 6-2 in their own back yard. Andy Dennett was the jewel in their crown converting a well contrived hat-trick. Gareth Evans, Jordan Stringer, Corey Gough and Adam Hesp completed the haul.

Borras Park Albion ended the hopes of Brickfield Rangers in atrocious windy conditions which made for a fragmented game. The opener came following a foul on Adien Smith inside the box which Connor Povey cooly converted. James Roberts got the second with a stunning strike which finished high in the back of the net. Aiden Smith managed to sneak in the third just before the subs started to roll. Five subs later Borras were still in control and Tom Rintoul picked out James Roberts who netted a fourth goal. Kyle Ffrith ventured out of his left back position and completed their nap hand which earned his well deserved man of the match award. The score line flattered Borras as Brickfield battled hard and their heads never dropped for one moment.

Marford and Gresford Albion looked out for the count when they trailed 3-0 at one stage but they rallied to win 10-4 in the end. Declan Randles was in fine form scoring a hat-trick and taking them into double figures were Ed Wright, Chris Whittaker, Tom Wright(2), Rhys Lloyd and Mike Ryan. Making a fist of things for the visitors were Luke Hall(2), Bill Bates and Matt Evans.

Out go Brymbo Lodge, they were whitewashed 8-0 by Llangollen whose marksmen were Gavin Ellis, George Richards(2), Tom Edwards(2), Marley Edwards, Jacob Evans and Gavin Ellis.

Hawarden Rangers are great cup warriors and they ousted Cefn United 5-2. Making up their nap hand were Ed Lloyd(2), Jake Cruise and two own goals. Dave Walker and Adam Davies replied.

Mold Juniors versus Bala Juniors was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

In the only other tie, Johnstown Youth scalped Mynydd Isa 3-1 with strikes from Tom Pemberton, Josh Williams and Declan Corbett.

At Under 14 level in Section One we have Brymbo Lodge dictatingthe early season pace but they had to live on their nerves prior to delivering a 1-0 success at Rhosddu with Matthew Turner netting the only goal of the game.

Hot on their heels still are Ruthin Town but they dropped two points in a goal-less draw at Johnstown.

FC Borras Park Rangers slipped up 4-0 at home to Park Youth who had a class act in Cian Jones but it was a two goal contribution from Hayden Jones that tipped the scales in Park’s favour with Jones and Dave Jenkins completing the spree.

In Section Two, three teams share the lead with Borras Park Rangers looking the pick of the bunch with an unblemished start. They whitewashed Chirk Youth 10-0 and leading the rout with a hat-trick was Zac Bryan. Adding to their tally were George Ford, Zac Forber, James Roberts, Curtis Neary, Louis Gray, Matt Thomas(2)

Acrefair went down 4-1 at home against Llangollen Youth whose marksmen were Jack Maybury, Ben Wilson(2) and Clive Thomas with Kyle Reeves reducing the arrears.

Brickfield Rangers slammed Coedpoeth United 5-0, making up their nap hand were Kamil Bancer, Jordon Jenkins, Aaron Diamond and Luke Bowen.

Garden Village share the lead courtesy of their narrow 3-2 victory over Rhos Aelwyd. Tom Duckett and Luke Davis created a two goal cushion for hosts but back came Rhos through Jake Jones with a shot from the half way line and Ian Hughes and it looked as if they were going to share the honours until Duckett secured a last gasp winner for Garden Village.

Mold Juniors slumped to a 3-2 reversal against Marchwiel United, Owen Traynor and Adam Offless were on target for the hosts but United went one better through Dominic White, Rob Ward and Jack Edwards.

In the afternoon programme, all of the action was in the Under 16 League. Section One is headed up by Garden Village who triumphed 3-0 at home against Ruthin Town, Mal Mbako(2) and Callum White safeguarded the points.

Brickfield Rangers thrashed Llay United 5-2 and making up their nap hand were Liam Sklenar with a treble, Lewi Jones and Tom Birkhead with Luke Cahill hitting back with a brace of goals.

Kyle Jones and a brace of goals from Kristian Jone enabled Chirk Youth to just topple Maelor Youth 3-1 with Harry Robinson hitting back.

Coedpoeth United sentenced Marford and Gresford Albion to their third consecutive defeat with the hosts winning 3-2. On target were Rhys Hughes, Tom Parry and Nathan Jones with a well struck free-kick with below par Albion who have not and have not reached their previous high standards but did manage to pull goals back through Ben Rogers and Adam Nolan.

In Section Two, there was a pulsating high tempo game at Rhosnesni where Borras Park Albion defeated old adversaries Venture 4-3. Michael Hencher(2), Jack Challinor and George Cowell, keeoing Venture in with a shout were Ryan Farward(2) and Nathan Smith.

Llangollen were the days highest scorers and they whitewashed Marchwiel United 11-0. Sam Evans weighed in with a four goal salvo, James Claybrook and Sam Williams converted trebles and cementing the win was Wes Parry.

Sam Roberts and a two goal blast from Saul Dobie saw Johnstown Youth home 3-1 against Park Youth.

There was a revised game at Ewloe in the Under 15 league and Corwen triumphed 5-0.
