WREXHAM AND DISTRICT YOUTH LEAGUE

Saturday 4th April 2009

Summary by Phil Jones

The days top action was in the NEWFA TESCO UNDER 13 CUP Final and the booty for the winners is a trip to Cardiff to appear in the all Wales final so as you can see, the rewards were rich. Garden Village took a 2-0 lead through Zac Price and Jack Peers but cup favourites Acrefair hit back through Joe Roberts and Jordon Powell to deservedly take the tie into extra time and the highlight of which was a breathtaking world class save by Village keeper Danny Roberts to deny his namesake Danny Roberts. The talented teenager was also the hero in the penalty shoot out which Village won on penalties with Peers netting the decisive spot-kick.

Marchwiel United are just one game away from winning the Under 12 League Section One title after flooring Llay United 4-1, Callum Bagnall and Jack Jones had them in charge but an impressive double salvo from Sean Plunkett cemented the win. Hitting back was Luke Roberts.

Penycae will take the title race down to the wire though as they demolished Coedpoeth United 7-3. Luke Hall hit all three of the hosts goals but Penycae’s strength showed and they coasted to victor with strikes from Albert Mynit who notched four goals, Luke Peters and Callum Smith(2).

Brymbo Lodge shared six goals and the points with Maelor Youth, Alex Edwads(2) and James Roberts fired the Lodge goals with Danny Wright and Connor Jones(2) hitting back.

Rhosddu United were overpowered 6-3 in their own back yard by Garden Village whose marksmen were Curtis Foulkes and Brandon Barritt Bagnell who netted two goals apiece, Kyle Preston and man of the match Lee Millington. Responding for plucky Rhosddu were Huw Jones, Jordon Stringer and Jake Ryan.

In Section Two, James Haynes provided Cefn United with an early lead at Borras Park Rangers who shaded this clash in the end 3-1 thanks to a deft header from Ross Bignall, Jack Roberts and sub Chris Thatcher.

Marford and Gresford Albion defeated Johnstown by the odd goal in seven, Chris Whittaker and the ever alert midfielder Danny Cross notched the winners goals with Gareth Owen, Josh Williams and Scott Lecki hitting back.

There was limited Under 13 action but in Section One, Maelor walloped Llay United 11-1 in a reversed fixture. Taking the Maelor tally into double figures were Matt Mills, Alex Reidhe and a hat-trick of hat-tricks for Jason Edwards, Rhys Williams and Daniel Hampson.

In the Under 14 League in Section One, Johnstown continue to sit in pole position after clinching an 8-2 victory at Corwen. Matt Jones was their best player and he recorded a hat-trick. Curtis Isaac weighed in with a double salvo and adding to their tally were Dean Williams and Josh Millington.

Title favourites Ruthin Town whitewashed Bala Town 10-0, taking them into double figures were Tirion Roberts and Nidion Jones who notched a hat-trick apiece, Oliver Bradley-Hughes(2), Sion Hughes and Stephen Willsdon.

Park Youth defeated Borras Park Albion 4-2, on target were Tyrone Hopson(2), Hayden Jones and Andy Barritt. Responding for Albion were Lloyd Bagnall and Liam Duncan.

John Paul Weston-Lewis was the inspiration behind the Brymbo Lodge 4-1 success against FC Borras Park Rangers, Jack Mountford cemented the win with Harri Gould replying.

Marchwiel Colts secured their first win of the campaign to take them off the bottom and they defeated FC Brickfield 5-0. Making up their nap hand were Jordon Edwards and Josh Baker who scored four goals.

In Section Two, title favourites Borras Park Rangers ran Marford and Gresford ragged and ended up comfortable 8-0 winners. Zac Degale converted yet another hat-trick, Matt Thomas(2), Ryan Bithell, Zak Forber and George Ford completed the rout.

Current leaders Garden Village were in fine fettle though and they had a comfortable 4-2 passage at Acrefair. Keiron Taylor, Tom Duckett and James Griffiths had them racing into a 4-0 lead but the hosts did manage two late goals through Kyle Reeves and Callum Nash.

Andy Myres, Dave Jameson, Ed Robinson and Dylan Gillanders combined for Marchwiel United to defeat Llangollen 4-0.

Coedpoeth were beaten 4-2 in their own back yard by Rhos Aelwyd who had the games best player in Josh Evans who converted a hat-trick, sealing the success was Alex Williams.

In the afternoon programme in the Under 15 League Section One, leaders Rhos Aelwyd had their game at the Adwy canned so second placed Brickfield narrowed the gap at the top with a 2-1 win over Marford and Gresford Albion. Richard Kelly and Ryan Thomas bagged the winners goals with livewire Joe Broderick hitting back.

Liam Jones replied for Penycae as they slipped up 5-1 at home to Marchwiel United who went nap through Ashley Salisbury, Jason Murphy(2), Naim Arson(2) and Naz Fahad.

In Section Two, leaders Mold Jets thrashed Chirk Youth 7-1 who replied through Josh Roberts.

Park Youth were in fine form walloping Maelor Youth 9-2, Ryan Jones weighed in with a four goal salvo with Kyle Roberts(2), Ryan Price and Liam Lea adding to their tally. Reducing the deficit was Jordon Cartwright(2).

Ruthin Town powered their way past Corwen Youth and taking them into double figures with ten goals were Brandon Keating(2), David Finnie(2), Lee Nazaruk(2), Matt Richards, Kristian Pierce, Mike Jones and Iolo Hughes.

In the Under 16 League in Section One, just the one game survived and it involved Garden Village and Coedpoeth. A 7-0 win for the hosts has them sitting in joint top and their marksmen were Callum White(2), Mal Mbako(2), Ben White(2) and Sean Price.

The Maelor Youth versus Chirk Youth game was postponed due a pitch problem.

League leaders in Section Two are Borras Park Albion and they consolidated top spot with a 4-0 victory at Bala. On target were Niall Challinor, Jack Chaloner, Ryan Jones and Tom Wells.

Park Youth went down 3-2 at home to Johnstown who were able to claim all three points and chalking up their goals were Josh Williams with a fine header, Jack Griffiths and Celyn Waite.
