WREXHAM AND DISTRICT YOUTH LEAGUE

Saturday 17th November 2007

Summary by Phil Jones

The days key action on Saturday was in the Under 12 North East Wales Challenge Cup and it really was a day for Ram raiding the RAM Leisure league sides. Mold Juniors whitewashed Borras Park Albion 12-0. On the score-sheet in this convincing victory were Bradley Reid, Lewis Tudor and Craig Williams with two goals apiece, Aaron Davies converted a hat-trick with Sam Wainwright and Mike Merrifield adding to their tally.

Hawarden Rangers scalped Marford and Gresford Albion 7-2 but hitting back for plucky Albion were Mark Shaw and Gareth Hughes. Rangers are fancied to make quite an impact and they had class players in Liam Walker, Jake Eyre, Daniel Jones, Rhys Peers, Jack Leonard-Gill and Josh Davies who all hit the target. They prospered with an own goal and some fine creative play from defender Louis Owen who had a hand in several of his sides goals.

Mynydd Isa were on the rampage and they secured a 3-2 win at Johnstown. Providing them with a safe passage were Corey Roberts, Jamie Richards and Sam Jones with Taylor Clayton having the hosts in with a shout with a double salvo.

Buckley also came across the league border to end Rhosddu’s dreams and they clinched a emphatic 4-2 success with Tom Povey responding to Buckley’s tally carved out by Ben Dorrington, Connor Littler, Andrew Wynne and Sam Woodward.

Acrefair Youth sent Chirk Youth crashing out 8-0. The following four players scored two goals apiece, Connor Rogers, Joe Roberts, Jordan Powell and Aled Bartley.

Brickfield Rangers put up a plucky fight and played some of their best soccer in ages but it was not quite enough to halt Borras Park Rangers who shaded things 3-1 with strikes from Jack Edwards. Jack Davies and Dan Jarett. Hitting back was James Roberts.

Brymbo Lodge just about sneaked an odd goal in seven victory over Llangollen. Levi Clemson, Ryan Jones, Keiran Jones and Matt Jones were the Lodge heroes with William Pluves(2) and Huw Williams pitting up a fight for the opposition.

Out go Garden Village, they were beaten 3-0 by Ruthin Town who netted through Rob Dodd, Llyr Morris and Jamie Jones.

In the Under 13 League in Section One, the match of the day clash between Mold Juniors and Rhos Aelwyd fell in favour of Mold and their narrow 3-2 victory has them in poll position. Toast of the Town for Mold were Adam Roberts and Adam Offless who struck twice. Hitting back was Ian Hughes with a brace of goals.

Rhosddu United went down 2-1 at home to Brymbo Lodge who were able to celebrate their first win of the campaign. On target were Nathan Turner who got on the end of a pin point Matty Turner corner and Ryan Gould doubled their account and it proved decisive.

In Section Two, it is tight at the top and the days top performers were Borras Park Rangers who beat Ruthin Town 2-1 in their own back yard. Ruthin had taken a deserved lead through Tirion Roberts but a 30 yard screamer of a free-kick had Rangers back in it leaving though for the very reliable Zac Forber to clinch the points with a late penalty.

Marford and Gresford Albion were sunk 5-2 at home by Park Youth who went nap through Tyrone Hopson(2), Clan Jones, Andy Barrett and Hayden Jones with Luke Jones and James Griffiths hitting back.

It is Acrefair Youth that stay top though after convincingly beating Bala Juniors 3-0. On target were Tom May, Josh Evans a a foal of the season contender Jared Storrie.

Garden Village were beaten in their own back yard by Marchwiel United. A solitary strike from Edward Evans proved decisive.

There is no change at the top of the Under 14 League in Section One and best up were leaders Ruthin Town who whitewashed Maelor Youth 11-0. John Childes led the way weighing in with a four goal salvo. Iolo Hughes converted a hat-trick with Josh Davies, Ben Keating and Nathan Jones netting two goals apiece with Kris Pierce, Joe Evans, Dave Finney and Matt Richards.

Penycae Youth flopped to a 7-3 reversal at home to Marchwiel United. Callum Edge snatched a treble for the hosts but still finished on the losing side. Ashley Salisbury also converted a hat-trick for the winners with Ben Duffy(2), Liam Postle and Owen Mazerella completing their tally.

Brymbo Lodge recorded only their second win of the campaign to defeat Corwen Youth 2-1. Luke Birch was the architect behind the win with setting up goals for Hayden Powell and Jordon Jones..

Borras Park Albion against Bala Juniors was one way traffic at times with Dale Edwards(2), Josh Underwood and Todd Dobie sealing Albion’s 4-1 win over Bala.

We have new leaders in Section Two and they are Rhos Aelwyd who had an awesome 9-0 victory over Park Youth. Josh Griffiths became one of the days highest scores netting five times, Rob Salathiel converted a hat-trick with Ryan Jones completing the debacle.

There was a most unusual score in the Chirk Youth and Brickfield Rangers game with the visitors eventually shading things 7-6. Tom Williams netted a hat-trick with Matt Smith, Tom Lloyd, Josh Austin and Jack Pawley enabling Rangers to achieve maximum points. For the hosts, Nazeem Fahrad was best player on view and his cultured performance was rewarded with a treble and Josh Roberts, Kye Roberts and Mark Valentine completed Chirk’s contribution.

In the Under 15 League in Section One, Maelor maintained their unbeaten start to clinch an 8-1 verdict at Brickfield. Setting up this convincing result were Alex Thompson-Paynter, Lewis Williams(2), Mark Mottershead, Alan Parry, Ian Elrick, Richard Scott and Josh Baker.

Coedpoeth were big hitters beating Marchwiel United by a larhe margin. On the scoresheet with a three goal haul was Rhys Hughes and completing the rout were man of the match Ben Jones(2), James Rogers, skipper Jack Roberts and then Adam Skellon also weighed in with a hat-trick.

Turning to Section Two, Borras Park Albion stay out on top and remain the only unbeaten team, they beat Rhosddu United 7-2 with strikes from Malcolm Mbako who netted a hat-trick, Michael Hencher(2), Steven Jones and George Cowell. Replying for the visitors were Steven Elliott and Lucas Godfrey.

At Under 16 level, writing the headlines as the only unbeaten team are Rhostyllen Youth who defeated overnight leaders Ruthin Town 3-2. Ruthin twice surrendered the lead carved out by Ian Williams and Alex Gill so they did it the hard way and fought their way back with efforts from John McGrath and Gareth Lloyd who pegged things back to 2-2 and a late strike from Mark Burrows proved decisive.

Llay United fought out a 1-1 draw with Marchwiel United. James Thornton was the hosts scorer with Ricky Smith replying.

There were plenty of goals to savour in the Girls Section of the RAM Leisure league and writing the headlines was young Lauren Reece who netted six goals as Penycae defeated Chirk B Under 11 8-0. Completing the whitewash were Lowri Parry and Chelsea Jackson.

Lois Jones bagged both goals for Brickfield as they narrowly defeated Buckley Town Diamonds 2-1.

Mold Juniors continue to show up well, best emphasised by their 4-0 romp against Marford and Gresford. Naomi Kemsall and Sinead Crawford both fired double salvo’s,
