WREXHAM AND DISTRICT YOUTH LEAGUE

Saturday 29th March 2008

Summary by Phil Jones

Making the headlines in the Under 12 League in Section One were Marchwiel United as their 5-0 triumph at Cefn United has taken them straight to the top of the league and making up their nap hand were Richard Bevis with a brace of goals and Nick Hughes with a treble which took his season’s goals tally to 59 goals.

Brickfield Rangers flopped to a 5-2 reversal against Chirk Youth but they managed to reduced the arrears with a goal each from Cameron Woolnough and Gary Ray. On target for the winners were Connor Redmond, Jamil Bashir, Jack Weir and James Harrop(2).

At Under 13 level in Section One, Rhos Aelwyd have moved to within one point of leaders Mold Juniors with a riveting 11-1 romp against Llangollen. Top gun was Ian Hughes who weighed in with a five goal salvo, Stef Parry and Scott Reeves notched two goals apiece with Dan Harrison and Connor Jones completing the debacle.

There was an identical score line at Rhosddu United where the homeside defeated Coedpoeth United 11-1. There were two hat-trick heroes in Jake Williams and Dave Bowen with all of the following players also on target, skipper Callum Perry, Dylan Hughes, Jack Morris and Sam Rogers. Replying for the visitors was Elliott John.

Brymbo Lodge failed to contain a rampant Johnstown Youth who were back to their best to clinch a 5-0 success. Dean Williams, Matt Jones with a hat-trick and George Roberts had been on target.

Amongst the days top scorers was Ben Wilson who bagged seven goals as Chirk Youth demolished Marchwiel Colts 10-2. Completing the debacle were James Cohen(2) and Tyler Jones.

In Section Two, the Park Youth versus FC Brickfield was a high scoring game with Park winning quite convincingly 21-1. Tyrone Hopson has had a great campaign and he weighed in with a six goal salvo. Adding to their spree were Will Poole and Andy Barrett with four goals apiece, Hayden Jones, Chris Walsh(2), Curtis Roberts(2) and Jack Bushell.

The Garden Village versus Marford and Gresford Albion game was a free flowing affair with the hosts clinching matters 3-0. They took maximum points from this encounter with strikes from Theo Pumford, a daisy cutter from Luke Jones and a fine finish from Jordan Williams. Standing out for the hosts was Ryan Thomas.

There was not a great deal of action in the Under 14 League but Rhosddu did find time to destroy Maelor Youth 5-1, completing their nap hand were Ben Allen, Tom Hallom(2) and Jamie Harris.

The Brymbo Lodge versus Garden Village game failed to go ahead with Lodge having an acute shortage of players.

The days top match in League Section Two saw league leaders Mold Juniors just edge home 4-3 at Llay United with efforts from Oliver Marshall(2), Ian Roberts and Ryan Williams but Llay really made a scrap of things hitting back through Adam Williams(2) and Ryan Fisher.

Brickfield Rangers had a terrific 1-1 draw with Rhos Aelwyd who will be hopping mad they dropped two points at a time they were looking to close the gap. Josh Griffiths had Rhos 1-0 up with a minute to go but Tom Williams hit baack with a last minute penalty.

Marford and Gresford Albion were back to their best and they sunk Chirk Youth 5-2. Man of the match Joe Broderick converted a hat-trick and making up their nap hand were Mark Lewis and Callum Parry. Naz Fahat and Lewis Jones hit back.

There was scant action in the afternoon with Marford and Gresford Albion moving off the bottom of the table in the Under 15 league with a splendid 6-2 romp over Marchwiel United. Efan Morgan notched a treble with Ben Rogers, Joe Crawford and Oliver Post on the score-sheet. Tom Lea with a double salvo hit back.

In the Under 16 league, Ruthin Town got back on the winning trail with an 8-1 win over Park Youth. Gwydion Ifan was star of the show with a hat-trick, Jack S Williams struck twice with Ian Williams, Adam Eden and Richard Parry sealing the points. Netting a lone Park consolation goal was Daniel Thomas.

Rhostyllen Youth maintained their interest in the title with a 3-1 victory over Marchwiel United who responded through Kristian Dickenson.

Kevin Dwyer, Joe Jarvis and Sam Taylor hit back for Garden Village as they flopped 5-3 at home to Chirk Youth.
