WREXHAM AND DISTRICT YOUTH LEAGUE

Saturday Saturday 19th January 2008

Summary by Phil Jones

Despite the rain soaked conditions, it was quite amazing that we have managed to get almost 20 games played.

Under 12 League Section One leaders Acrefair didn’t have things all of their own way and their 5-2 success at Marford and Gresford Albion running them really close with efforts from Gareth Hughes and Iwan Parry Jones. Making up the visitors nap hand were Connor Rogers, Dan Roberts, Stuart Roberts and Jordon Powell with a brace of goals.

Llangollen Youth shared four goals and the points with Chirk Youth, James Fell had his double salvo for Llangollen wiped out by a Jamil Bashir double.

Whitegate Wanderers leaked goals and it cost them dearly as Brickfield Rangers triumphed 5-1. Jordon Davies fired a consolation goal but Rangers were much stronger and netted through James Roberts(2), Gary Ray, Jack Rolt and Cameron Woolnough.

In the outstanding Under 12 Tony Collins Memorial Cup game at Round 2 stage, competition favourites Brymbo Lodge defeated Cefn United 9-1 and their barrage of goals were converted by Tom Holmes. Levi Clemson, Richard Furmstone, Ryan John, Keiran Jones, Danny Myers(2) and Jordon Jones.

Just the one game survived in Section Two and it saw Ruthin Town fall to a heavy 10-2 reversal at home to Borras Park Rangers who were in rampant mood and scored through Callum Ridgeway, Ryan Kershaw(2), Lewis Edwards converted a hat-trick, Jack Davies, Scott Jones(2) and Aaron Rafferty with Ruthin reducing the deficit through a Rob Dodd double.

In the Under 13 League in Section One, FC Borras Park Rangers whitewashed plucky Marchwiel Colts 9-0, Steve Thomas was top gun with a three goal haul but completing their rout were Keegan Jakolevs, Jamie Pritchard, Jack Dickens and Jack Griffiths.

In Section Two we witnessed the days top performers Marford and Gresford Albion, without a point on the board they visited league leaders Marchwiel United and held them to a goal-less draw. The point ended this barren spell but it does bode well for the future for Albion.

Borras Park Rangers showed what a class outfit they are and they triumphed 15-0 against FC Brickfield. Zac Degale was amongst days top scorers helping himself to a five goal salvo. Completing the debacle were George Ford with four goals, Curtis Neary, Greg Moffat, Lewis Harrington with a hat-trick and James Roberts.

Emry Gwynydd and Tirion Roberts fired the Ruthin Town goals against Garden Village and the 2-0 win allows them to go clear at the top.

There was scant action at Under 14 level with just one section one game getting the green light and it involved Marchwiel delivering maximum points by defeating Brymbo Lodge 6-3 with strikes from
Jord Cartwright(2), Ashley Salisbury(2), Ben Duffy and Jason Murphy.

In section two, Llay United peppered hosts Chirk Youth 8-1. Ryan Fisher shared the accolade of being the days top scorer netting five times with Ben Williams and Adam Williams(2) accounting for the rest. Hitting back for Chirk was Jordon Owen.

The afternoon programme didn’t seem to be as badly affected and in the Under 15 League Section One, Venture strengthened their grip at the top of league with a convincing 7-1 success over Marford and Gresford Albion. On the scores-sheet were Ryan Jones(2), Josh Roberts, Sam Jones, Zac Bailey and Ryan Forward(2). Reducing the arrears for Albion was Ben Rogers but Jack Cunnah and Mark Lambert earned much praise for their contribution.

Johnstown were sunk 3-1 by Chirk Youth whose marksmen were Justin Webb, Kyle Jones and Nathan Cook.

Llay United were overpowered 3-1 by Garden Village who were on target through Mason Mathews(2) and Callum White.

In the Under 16 League, Ruthin Town consolidated their pole position with a well earned 5-2 victory over Borras Park Albion. Making up their nap hand were Jack S Williams, Ben Jones, an OG and Ian Williams. Danny Jones and Liam Humphreys reduced the arrears for Albion.

There were goals galore in the Coedpoeth United versus Chirk Youth game with Chirk being 7-4 victors. Lewis Penrose is enjoying a fine season and he boosted his goal tally with a well contrived hat-trick. Completing the spree were Simon Williams(2), Matt Storrie and Josh Roberts. Maintaining a strong interest in the game for the hosts were Dan Povah and Gary Williams with a hat-trick.

In a high tempo game with some great skills in evidence, Garden Village were beaten 4-2 in their own back yard by Park Youth whose marksmen were Liam Nicholson and Luke Roberts with two goals apiece. Louis Roberts fired a two goal salvo for the hosts.
