WREXHAM AND DISTRICT YOUTH LEAGUE

Saturday 8th December 2007

Summary by Phil Jones

The key action at the weekend was in the Under 12 League Cup and despite the atrocious weather conditions, the vast majority of games went ahead as planned, the exception being the match of the day clash between Acrefair and Borras Park Albion and the game between Coedpoeth and Rhos Aelwyd.

Borras Park Rangers are hotly tipped to do well, they scalped Ruthin Town 3-1 with goals from Ryan Curshaw(2) and Louis Edwards. Hitting back was Rob Dodd.

It is worth a flutter on Garden Village progressing to the Wrexham Racecourse come next May, they accounted for high flying Brymbo Lodge 6-0. Completing their haul with two goals apiece were Jack Peers, Callum Dutton and Ross White.

Brickfield Rangers slammed Maelor Youth 7-0, sealing their whitewash were Bryn Nelson(2), Gary Ray, James Roberts, Jack Rolt, Cameron Woolnough and Danny Woodfine.

There were goals galore at Chirk Youth who surrendered 9-4 at home to Marchwiel United. The winners goals were carved out by Nick Hughes and Richard Bevis who weighed in with four goals apiece with Alistair Belk cementing their success. Replying for the plucky hosts were Jamil Bashir(2), Colin Redmond and Jamie Harris.

There was a real thriller at Moreton Playing field where Johnstown Youth just shaded their tie against Marford and Gresford Albion who had pegged it back to 1-1 at one stage through Gareth Hughes who accounted for his 17th goal of the campaign. Tipping the scales for the hosts were Taylor Clayton and Louis Bickerton-Cole.

As predicted, Whitegate Wanderers were amongst the goals again in their 8-3 victory but still leaked in three from Llay United. Making their tie safe were Bradley Sandford with a treble, Jay Davies, Zac Trow, Niall Martin and Jordan Davies.

In the Under 13 League in Section One, Mold Juniors have gone four points clear at the top as a result of their 13-1 romp over Llangollen. Taking the into double figures were three hat-trick heroes in Lee Jones, Adam Offless and Adam Roberts, Michael Ellwell(2), Jon Jones and Luke Vander-Kooij completed their spree. Daniel Weir provided Llan’s lone response.

Brymbo Lodge found themselves trailing early on at home to Marchwiel Colts but they turned the tables to win 7-1 in the end courtesy of strikes from Ryan Gould, Matt Turner, Jake James, sub Jack Pulson and hat-trick hero John Paul.

Chirk Youth shared six goals and the points with Rhosddu United. On target for Chirk were Ben Wilson, Callum Shepherd and Jamie Jones with Rhosddu responding through Dylan Hughes, Callum Perry and Owain Cass Williams.

Coedpoeth United were peppered 9-0 by Johnstown Youth who had a real goal machine in Dean Williams who bagged himself a nap hand of goals. Completing the rout were Josh Millington(2), Matt Jones and Matt Smith.

In Section Two, Borras Park Rangers won their match of the day epic against Garden Village 2-1. Their narrow success was etched out by Zac Bryan and Zac Degale who nailed the winner late in the game after Jordan Williams had levelled the match. Man of the match though for The Village was former Borras player Tom Duckett.

Marchwiel United just about shaded their clash with Park Youth 2-1 thanks to Eddie Evans and Dominic White with Park responding through Joel Darlington.

Ruthin Town notched a 3-0 success against Marford and Gresford Albion, their marksmen were Ifan Hafal(2) and Harri Owen.

Turning to the Under 14 League in Section One, Borras Park Albion have gone top after clinching an 8-2 verdict over Penycae Youth but the big margin does flatter the hosts slightly. A colossus for Penycae in midfield was Sam Jones and he along with Ryan Jones forged the visitors reply. Make no bones about it, Borras were worthy winners and were on target through Todd Dolby(2), Corey Smart, Taylor Rogers, Josh Underwood and Josh Whitehead with a well contrived treble.

Garden Village were at their best and accounted for Maelor Youth 8-0. Leading their avalanche of goals were Jake McDermott with a hat-trick, Dan Davies(2), Tom Seward, Joe Harper and Tristian Parry.

Rhosddu United left the game against Marchwiel United with their tails up, they took maximum points from their 6-4 encounter. Luke Griffiths converted a hat-trick, Anthony Hope, Tom Hallom and Amy Wilsher made the points safe with Ben Duffy, an OG, James Roberts and Jason Murohy accounting for the visitors response.

Turning to Section Two, amongst the days top scorers were Brickfield who were worthy 10-1 winners against Coedpoeth United. Taking Brickie into double figures were Tom Williams with four goals, Matt Smith(2), Tom Lloyd, Jake Peckam, Ryan Hannaby and Ellis Hughes.

With the weather worsening after lunch, waterlogged grounds halted five of the eight Under 16 League Cup games that should have been contested.

There were some real epics in the ties that did survive, the Under 15 side at Venture took Borras Park Albion to the wire and it took extra time for Borras to win this tie 6-5 after the had game had ended at 5-5. Completing the Borras six pack were Danny Jones with a hat-trick, Dean Matthews and Nathan Williams(2). Running Venture close with an outstanding display of football were Ryan Jones, Nathan Smith(2), Zac Bailey and Josh Roberts.

Out go Maelor Youth despite putting up a sterling fight before conceding 13 goals against rampant Chirk Youth, their marksmen were Lewis Penrhose who converted a hat-trick, Danny Jones(2), Chris Pugh and man of the match Simon Williams who weighed in with a seven goal salvo.

Rhostyllen were put to the sword by the younger Borras Park Albion who were forfeiting 12 months in age. They were still in the game when Dominic Williams and Mal Mbako pegged things back to 2-2. Making up the Rhostyllen nap hand were Drew Wickens and Keiran Ansloos with a goal in each half and Tibor Bloc.
