WREXHAM AND DISTRICT YOUTH LEAGUE

Saturday 1st December 2007

Summary by Phil Jones

Despite the atrocious weather at the weekend we were still able to fulfil the vast majority of the fixtures.

The main action was in the Under 14 League Cup and several managers were bemoaning the logic of this competition of having youngsters pitting their wits against those who are 12 months older than them. Most games do go with form and won by the older team but there are exceptions to the rule and it was not that long ago an Under 15 side defeated an Under 16 side in the competition final. An exception to this rule on Saturday was Ruthin Under 13’s who defeated Llangollen 14’s 5-1. Making up their nap hand were Tirion Roberts(2), Ciran Jones, Stephen Willsdon, and Ifan Hafal.

Brickfield Rangers chalked up a 6-1 verdict over Penycae Youth with goals from Matt Smith(2), Tom Williams and a Tom Lloyd treble with Callum White hitting back.

Brymbo Lodge were overpowered 8-1 by Park Youth who had amongst their scorers James Adamson, Ryan Price, Mike Wrench and Tom Griffiths.

Securing a safe passage at FC Borras Park Rangers were Garden Village who progressed with a goal in each half from Luke Davies and Tom Duckett but in man of the match form in their 4-0 victory was fullback James Duckett.

Marchwiel Colts were gallant losers against top side Rhos Aelwyd who moved swiftly into the next round with the help of Josh ???, Ryan Marsden who also netted a six goal salvo, Ryan Jones, Dafydd Robertson, Adam Peters and a hat-trick from Taylor Jasper.

Goals from Andy Myers with a well struck free-kick and David James could not prevent Marchwiel United from slipping up 3-2 at home to Marford and Gresford Albion Under 13’s who hit back through James Griffiths(2)and Mike Flynn to go through.

Marford and Gresford Albion Under 14’s were too hot for Chirk Youth Under 13’s and they secured an easy passage into the next round with goals from Joe Broderick who was the days top scorer with seven goals, Mark Lewis(2) Tom Hughes, Josh Knowles, Ben Price and Mike Kelly. Ben Wilson netted the Chirk consolation goal.
Mold Juniors accounted for Llay United 3-0, on target were Olive Marshall(2) and Ryan Williams.

In the league at Under 12 level in Section One, Acrefair Youth look invincible again best exampled by their 12-0 romp over Cefn United. Adam Hughes converted a hat-trick, Joe Francis, Connor Rogers, and Joe Roberts all bagged a brace of goals each with Joe Pye completing the rout.

Second placed Brymbo Lodge were on their game and they hit visiting Brickfield Rangers for six, quite literally 6-1. Making up their haul were Levi Clemson(2), Matt Jones, Ryan John, and Richard Furmstone with Tom Nelson responding.

FC Garden Village looked home and dry when they led 1-0 through a Perry Shoemark goal but Chirk Youth fought back to claim the honours 4-1 with strikes from Connor Redmond, James Ash, Jack Weir and Jamil Bashir.

Marchwiel United were worthy 5-2 winners over Llangollen Youth who hit back with a Will Pluves double. Making up the hosts nap hand were Richard Bevis with a hat-trick, Adam Davies and Nick Hughes who scored a fine headed goal.

Whitegate Wanderers claimed the scalp of Marford and Gresford Albion to win this encounter 5-3. Gordan Davies weighed in with a four goal return with Matt Sandford adding to the Whitegate tally, reducing the deficit for Albion were Josh Pinder and Gareth Hughes(2) who took his seasons tally to 16 goals.

In Section Two, Coedpoeth United could not live with Borras Park Rangers who won this game quite convincingly. Ryan Curshaw was the jewel in their crown grabbing four of his sides goals, Lewis Edwards completed a hat-trick, Jack Davies(2) and Aaron Rafferty completed their spree.

Johnstown won their 5th game in 9 starts to defeat Maelor Youth 5-2 with goals from Ryan Hanmer(2), Jason Jones(2) ad Taylor Clayton. The visitors etched out a two goal reply through Dan Hampson and Rhys Williams.

Llay United went down 4-1 in their own back yard against Borras Park Albion who netted through Sam Jones, Matthew Thomas, Tyrone Clutton and Alex Anglesea. Reducing the arrears was Dan Doutch.

Garden Village looked in fine fettle as they picked off Rhos Aelwyd 3-0 with strikes from Zac Price, Sam Molyneux and Jack Peers.

Ruthin Town were in dominant mood to account for Rhosddu United, making up their haul were Josh Carney with a six goal return, Llyr Morris with a hat-trick, Guto Jones, Rob Dodd, Tom Dyer(2) an Dafydd Roberts.

In the afternoon programme in the Under 15 League in Section One, the big surprise was Maelor dropping points at Marford and Gresford who have yet to break their duck. Tom Cusworth fired both of the Maelor goals with Evan Morgan and Ben Rogers securing a point for the hosts who had Oliver Post showing up well.

Coedpoeth United shared four goals and the points with Ruthin Town. Danny Parry with a long range effort and James Rogers netted for the hosts with Jordan Reid and Arwyn Edwards hitting back.

Brickfield Rangers reduced the 10-3 deficit against Llangollen through Josh Jones, Lewis Jones and Liam Sklenar.

Venture defeated Bala Juniors 4-1 to stay in the title hunt with efforts from Rob Hoosan(2), Sam Jones and Nathan Smith. Responding for the Lakesiders was Iauan Hughes.

In Section Two, Borras Park Albion still rule the roost and they demolished Park Youth 8-2 away from home with the help of Steven Jones who converted a hat-trick, George Cowell struck twice and completing the rout were Malcolm Mbako, Jack Challinor and Dominic Williams. Responding for the hosts were Ryan Brimfield and Jake Hopley.

Johnstown Youth clinched a narrow 1-0 win over Llay United with Ashley Coleville nabbing the games only goal with a splendid header from a corner.

Rhosddu United had cause to celebrate as they thrashed Broncoed Tigers 6-1 with goals from Lucas Godfrey(2), Mike Smith and Matty Wright who converted a hat-trick.

At Under 16 League level, Ruthin Town have gone nine points clear at the top following their 3-0 victory over Marford and Gresford Albion with efforts from Jack Williams, Dion Jones and Ian Williams.

Borras Park Albion lost by the odd goal in seven against Llay United who were worthy winners thanks to strikes from Jamie Williams and a Sean Collard treble. Danny Jones, Scott Evans and Pharavee Thongsaquc hit back.

Coedpoeth United slipped up 5-4 at home to Garden Village who were back amongst the points and went nap through Joe Jarvis, Connor Speed, Louis Roberts, Martin Sotherland and James Trow. Danny Williams and a Nkonde Liandistha treble reduced the arrears.

Josh Langford(2), Josh Roberts and Martin Storey netted for Chirk Youth in their 6-4 reversal against Park Youth who took all three points on offer after Ryan Price, Liam Nicholson(2) and Deiniol Williams with a treble stole the show for Park.
