WREXHAM AND DISTRICT YOUTH LEAGUE
Summary by Phil Jones

Saturday 26th April 2008

There was no Under 12 soccer at the weekend but in the Under 13 League Section One, Mold Alex made up for their midweek slip up by whitewashing Coedpoeth 7-0. Ace predator Lee Jones converted a hat-trick with Mike Ellwell and Tom Gillett notching two goals apiece.

Brickfield Rangers just shaded their clash with Brymbo Lodge, a Dan Sheriff strike proved decisive but in Rhys Bryan they had the games best player.

Rampant Rhos Aelwyd savaged Chirk Youth 9-0, man of the match Scott Reeves netted four of those goals with Stef Parry and Ian Hughes weighing in with double salvo’s with sub Connor Jones completing the debacle.

Rhosddu United have had a brilliant second half to their campaign best exampled by their 8-2 romp against Marchwiel Colts, making quite a contribution since the turn of the years has been Dave Bowen and he weighed in with a further four goals. Sam Rogers is keeping up his goal a game ratio with Jake Williams and Jack Dacey cementing the win.

Llangollen Youth were peppered 7-0 by Johnstown Youth who had Josh Millington at his best bagging four of those goals, Dean Williams struck twice with Alex Williams sealing the win.

In the Under 14 league, in Section One, Marchwiel United have wrapped up third spot with an 8-3 victory at Corwen who hit back through Andy Andrews, Olly Oliver and Naz Nazim. The victors prospered with efforts from six shooting Owen Mazzarella, Adam Smith and James Roberts.

Brymbo Lodge had one of their best results of the campaign and they triumphed 5-0 over Bala Juniors, completing their nap hand were Liam Williams with a treble, Tom Potts and Jordan Jones.

Turning to Section Two, Naz Fahat once again was writing all of the days headlines, he netted seven goals as his side Chirk beat Llangollen 10-1. Luke Potts previously had spent a barren time on the goals front but after a long wait, he weighed in with a double salvo with Kai Jones cementing the win.

The Llay United versus Park Youth game was a thrilling affair and Luke Edwards fired the Llay goal.

Brickfield Rangers were second best to an in form Marford and Gresford Albion who won 3-1 with goals from Chris Whitehall, Callum Parry and Joe Broderick. Tom Lloyd did manage to reduce the arrears.

There was little action in the afternoon programme but champs Venture were beaten 1-0 at Bala who were on target through Alan Parry.

At Under 16 level, Marchwiel United defied the odds to defeat Park 3-1. Park had much of the play but on the counter attack the hosts were lethal and they showed Park how to finish, or to be exact, Ryan Williams(2) and Phil Tinsley did. Hitting back was Rhys Roberts.

Rhos Aelwyd took maximum points from their encounter with Borras Park Albion, their marksmen were Mike Rowlands, Dwayne Jones and Jason Williams.

There was much soccer played midweek and in the Under 14 North East Wales Challenge Cup, Mold Juniors turned around a 5-3 deficit to eventually book a safe passage after beating Chirk 6-2. Their goals flowed from Liam Roberts(2), Ryan Williams(2), John Reid and Ollie Marshall.

In the same competition at Under 16 level,Ruthin Town proved too hot to handle and they beat Park Youth 4-0 and their marksmen were Alex Gill, Jack F Williams, Ian Williams and Craig Roberts.

In the league at UNDER 13 level in Section One, there was a four game programme. Sadly medals are only for given to winners in all walks of competitive football but if anyone deserves a medal this season for the gallant way they have handled themselves with total decorum are Marchwiel Colts. Results have not their way at all but they have not wilted one little bit and are a real credit to the Youth League. Things did not get any better either when they were on the wrong end of a 21-1 score-line against Johnstown. The visitors had two players in fine form and they were Dean Williams who weighed in with a six goal salvo and Josh Millington netted five times. Completing the spree were Brad Hughes with a hat-trick and Matt Smith, Tristian Richards and Matt Jones who all bagged two goals apiece. There was much celebration about the consolation goal secured by Ethan Newland.

Llangollen Youth went down 4-1 t home to Rhos Aelwyd who were on target through Ian Hughes who fired all four of the Rhos goals. Reducing the deficit for the hosts was Joe Morris.

Brickfield Rangers fulfilled their potential and beat Mold Juniors 4-2 with strikes from Scott Williams and a Dave Bowen treble and the defeat for Mold could have cost them the title.

In Section Two of the Under 13 league, Borras Park Albion failed to make an impression against neighbours Borras Park Rangers who strengthened their title push with a 3-1 victory thanks to goals from Curtis Neary, an own goal and Zac Forber.

There was a reversed fixture in the UNDER 14 DIVISION and Garden Village came through unscathed to clinch a 2-0 victory over Bala Juniors and their marksmen were Callum Jones and Liam Jones.

Rhos Aelwyd were on the winning trail to defeat hosts Coedpoeth United 5-0, making up their nap hand were Dnny Gibbons(2), Josh Griffiths, Dafydd Robertson and Ryan Jones.

In the UNDER 16 league, Rhostyllen Youth went top in midweek after flooring Chirk Youth 6-3.

On Sunday, Gresford Colts went into their second Under 19 NEWFA Cup semi final tie with Garden Village protecting a three goal advantage and the result didn’t look in any doubt in the rematch but to be fair, Village were far more dominant but fell to late double sucker punch from Owen Williams.
